With book one, The Assassin’s Apprentice, it took me about half of the book to get into the story, but with Royal Assassin, I was gripped from page one. Hobb’s books are notoriously sad, and this one was no different. The book is so gripping that you are living in every moment, however there’s always a lingering fear that something tragic will take place. There is something Shakespearian in the way she executes plots. Royal Assassin has secured my faith in Robin Hobb’s masterful writing.
